More about my commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Advancing progress that amplifies diverse voices is the cornerstone of my work, spanning the realms of the classroom, laboratory, industry, and beyond. My commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is ingrained in all facets of my research, teaching, and service scholarship.
I have done service work for the department and college as a DEI committee chair at Ohio University, and the fields of ISE and HCI through my work at ISMAR and IEEEVR. Further, I have presented my DEI-service work at an Engineering Education conference and have intentions to publish my future service work in those venues.
I am devoted to leveraging my unique perspective as an individual with intersecting identities (LGBTQIA+, first-generation, low-income) to uplift those with similar backgrounds. Additionally, I use my privileges as a white, able-bodied U.S. citizen to actively listen and serve as an ally to communities with whom I do not share intersectional identities.
